This weekend was…

Comments Off Shopping, Tastings

FUN!

I was invited to go to the Freedom to Yelp event & try out many different local vendors. And I ran into some pretty cool folks! {of Hang Over Easy, Jeni’s Ice Cream & Buckeye Vodka}

That’s Britni, Nellie & Jackie!

While in college (and still the occasional football Saturday) I worked at Hang Over Easy (originally Nick’s Diner) and I have many, many fond memories there. The people that work there are wonderful, the food is fantastic, and now there is a bar, which means $4 Bloody Marys with my egg & bacon sandwich!

Here she is, workin’ the crowd! :)

On Saturday, I went back to the Gateway, but this time it was for my favorite craft event of the year–CRAFTIN’ OUTLAWS! I <3 all things crafty, so this consumed my day. AND my great friend Kelly was there with her booth 3ply!

Oh, and yes, I saw Twilight (don’t judge–I can’t help myself!). And just another reason why the Gateway Film Center is awesome:

Yes, this drink has SPARKLES in it!

Happy Week,

Jess

ps-I noticed they have trivia at The Gateway–noted for a future $20Date!

Re-post! Date #5: Bethel Road Pizza + Popcorn + Movie

Comments Off $20 Date, Dinner, Northwest, Tuesday

One of our very first $20Dates that we recently revisited–and it’s just as awesome as we remember! Recently featured on The Mix 107.9 as a perfect fall-to-winter date:)

What: The Flying Pizza + Al’s Delicious Popcorn + Carriage Place Movies
When: Tuesdays = $1 Movie Tickets!
Where: 1500 Bethel Road (Bethel Centre Shopping Center) + 2570 Bethel Road
Phone: 1800-FANDANGO (1235#) C.P.Movies, (614) 451-7677 (Al’s), (614) 457-2323 (F.P.)
Check here for show times! Check here for pizza menu! Check here for popcorn flavors!

This was such a fun, casual date! We started at The Flying Pizza and grabbed a couple of slices of pizza, one regular pepperoni & two sicilian cheese–yummm! We then walked over to Al’s Delicious Popcorn, located in the same shopping center. This place was suggested to us by our friends Dominique & Ryan, and being our first time there, we had no idea what to expect. Wow. The aroma of sweet with the perfect combination of salty immediately hit our noses and we were greeted with bins & bins of unique, individually flavored popcorn. The lady who helped us showed us the menu with all the flavors, told us that Vanilla Butternut was a favorite & let us a sample a couple flavors. We took her suggestion & ended up with a small bag (which is really not that small:)) of Vanilla Butternut & one of Al’s Trash (which is all the amazing sweet flavors left over from different batches).

Armed with our popcorn, we headed over to Carriage Place Movies, a little bit further down Bethel Road. Tickets are $1 on Tuesdays ($2 Friday & Saturday night, $1.50 otherwise)! We had a little extra time, so we ate some popcorn in the car & decided against taking it into the theater being that we were too full (but it’s up to you!;)).

Total: 3 slices of pizza $6.89 + 2 small bags of delicious popcorn $9.75 + 2 movie tickets $2 = $18.64

Kisses:
*
Quality & savory pizza
*Al’s Popcorn was the perfect dessert
*We saw the movie Red which was hilarious & fun
*We saw the movie Red…for only $1!
*All were within a quick drive or walk from each other
*This date is repeatable for anytime you want a cheap, casual date! And there are multiple other food choices in both the Bethel Centre Shopping Center & Carriage Place that are reasonably priced.

Misses:
*
Too many flavors of popcorn to choose from (this isn’t really a bad thing:) I’m trying Salt & Vinegar next!)
