Date #20: Guest Blog (Rob!) @ The Thurman Cafe

2 Comments $20 Date, German Village, Guest Blog, Uncategorized

Hello! Rob here! Jess has decided to let me post, so I picked a very important date.

What: The BEST burgers in all of Columbus, Ohio
Where: 183 Thurman Avenue, German Village
When: Monday-Sunday 11a-2:30a
Phone: 614.443.1570
The Thurman Cafe

Jess and I started dating on May 10th, 2009. For our first date, we went to one of the more messy places in town: The Thurman Cafe, better known as Thurman’s. We started with an order of pretzel bites (a basket of soft pretzel sections (~1inch), deep fried) and continued with our main course: half of a Thurman burger each. We ordered one Thurman burger and split it right down the middle. This burger has ham, mozzarella, american cheese, lettuce, tomato, mushrooms, sauteed onions, pickle, peppers, and mayo with chips and a pickle spear. (And if you’re on a date with Jess, EXTRA pickles.) Every year on May 10th, we go to Thurman’s to repeat this date. Read more

(Happy Hour) of the Week!

Comments Off Campus, Date Ideas, Happy Hour, Uncategorized

This Week’s Deal Is:

Ravari Room!

What: Great local bar connected to great (if not the best) pizza in Columbus
Where: 2661 N. High Street, North Campus
Happy Hour: Everyday 4p-9p
Featured Deal: 12″ 1-item pizza & a pitcher of domestic beer = $9.99
Ravari Room

Ravari Room has been a favorite in our group of friends for awhile! Ravari Room is a bar & live music venue connected to the famous Hounddog’s 3 Degree Pizza. The $9.99 featured special combines both Ravari Room’s bar & Hounddog’s pizza–the perfect combo! Other specials included in Ravari Room’s happy hour are: $1 domestic drafts, $1.50 domestic bottles, $1.50 Well Liquor ($2.00 well mixed drinks) $4.00 domestic pitchers and 50 cents off everything else.

Ravari Room happy hour is great for a lot of reasons: it’s cheap, it lasts later than most happy hours around town (9pm!) & it’s everyday! Oh, & they have billiards too! And Hounddog’s pizza is amazing! Also, depending on what day you go, there’s live music, karaoke or dance parties if you stay a little bit longer after happy hour!

*Make sure you order your pizza with Smokin’ Joes crust!

Try Ravari Room Happy Hour this week!

Happy Dating,

Brothers Drake

My wonderful, awesome, amazing sister Erin & I have been wanting to go on a double date for awhile now. Her equally as awesome husband Bill is a home brewer & is continually educating me on the fine art of beer–I love going over to their house! :) A year or so ago, Bill had offered me mead to try from a local meadery & I immediately loved it! Mead is wine made from honey, and oh-so delicious! So when Erin & I decided to plan a double date, I thought of Brothers Drake–Columbus’ first meadery, and the makers of that yummy honey goodness I had tried a year ago. They just opened their new location right by where I work, so I pass by it everyday & have been watching the progress. Read more
